VexiLogica is not a flag memorization learning game. Rather, it combines your critical thinking skills with your knowledge of flags.

In each level of VexiLogica, you will be given a set of flags, made up of their components.

Some flags have special components, like coat of arms, symbols, or stars (if you are a heraldry enjoyer, see “Notes on Special Components” to learn more).

Flags can be converted into the letters of a country’s name, and vice versa. With a specific nation's flag as the objective, you must work your way up to either spelling or creating the flag.

Plans

Depending on how much interest this demo gets, here’s what I plan for this game:

  1. Polish Music and Sound Design: I’m planning on each level having its own music, but this may be scoped down later
  2. Add Missing Nations: There are a few countries I’d like to add, like Finland and Sri Lanka, with potential for your input in deciding certain details about their implementation as well as other potential countries to add
  3. More Levels: Each country will have its own level
  4. Expansion Content: Once the above is finished, I’m considering branching out into historical flags or subdivisions (like a World Wars section, or a European cities/provinces section)
  5. Steam: With enough support, if I can scrape together the $100 it costs to publish a game on Steam, I most definitely will

Limitations

There are a few limitations to what flags I can have in this game.

  • Since the game uses a grid system, flags with diagonals (like Czechia or Jamaica) aren’t possible
    • I am considering making a special component for countries with a Union Jack, and you can help me make that decision
  • Since flags must fit in a 9 by 6 grid (to convert), some simple flags can’t be done either (like Colombia or Algeria)
  • For my own programming sake, I made Switzerland a rectangle
  • As for now, I plan on limiting national flags to just those with a majority recognition from all United Nations members (maybe a potential expansion?)

Notes on Special Components

Alright, nerd. I know that the coat of arms on Mexico’s flag isn’t technically a coat of arms. For the sake of this game, and to not add another special component, I’m considering all national emblems as coat of arms.

Still, it's these kinds of details and discrepancies which you can get involved in making decisions. For instance, I haven’t added Albania yet because I’m unsure if the eagle counts as the coat of arms, since it’s missing the helmet.

Tough (even for a flag geek like me) but really cool!

Thank you!
